It's about freaking time. I am back in labs and needless to say i'm a happy camper, or cooker. My first lab segment is Purchasing and Product ID. The classroom is on the first floor in the storeroom, but it’s not too bad even though it’s at 7am which means I get up at six and it does get kind of cold down there. We learn everything from being able to ID any product that comes through the storeroom to identifying the difference between two different types of canned peaches. I really enjoy my instructor; her voice kind of reminds me of Dory from Finding Nemo. She is a lot of fun and really knowledgeable. My class is a good group; I get along with all of them, even though it is the first day. Today, we had a quiz on herbs we had to name all the herbs in front of the class by appearance and smell. I passed, first time :)
Friday morning at the butt crack of dawn Hank and I left forNew York . I started driving first and if you read my face book, I fell asleep at the wheel. Nothing happened I just woke up, and then almost had a heart attack. Hank took over for pretty much the rest of the way after that. We got to Manhattan at around 6:30 that night. NYC traffic is INSANE! We picked up Deidre in front of her apartments so she could show us the tricks and the trades of finding the hidden parking spots. After about 30 minutes we found one. But we had to move our cars by 7 am the next morning. Kristina and Blair arrived shortly after where Kaitlin (Hanks cousin) and Donald (her BF) picked them up from the airport. We said our hellos and Kristina showered everyone with SEE'S CANDY (which they don’t have in NC). Deidre ordered the infamous New York Pizza or "pie". Later we all crawled in bed.
Hank and Blair got up early the next morning to move the car and surprise us with bagels, but when they spent nearly 2 hours trying to find a spot they weren't too happy.
New York was so much fun. I think I did the craziest thing ever though. We went to Canal Street and heard the whispering Asians "Gucci, channel, Prada..." and we ended up following on of them into the Chinese mafia quarters I’m pretty sure. They had walkie talkies and signals and passcodees talking us into the back alley of some building to this tiny non air-conditioned room, where I ended up getting a dolce and gabana purse, and Prada bag pretty dang cheap. It was super sketchy though. Afterwards since it was just us girls we decided to have as much chocolate as possible in "little Italy " at a yummy little shop.
Hank had a good time on his birthday. We want to try to go back sometime.
Off to go study and do homework
Love Ya!
